The “American Revolution Tour of North Carolina™” is an online guide exploring more than 90 sites related to the Revolution and Regulators. AmRevNC.com covers not only battles, but stories of protests, personal heroism, women, minorities, and more. Background pages summarize the history of the war, biographies, and military life. Research for the website turned up events and details either forgotten, even by historical organizations, or not widely known. For this event, the AmRevNC™ founder and author will point out how to get the most value from the website, and share personal stories about the project and lesser-known locations in our area, like Beattie’s Bridge, Raft Swamp, and the Flora MacDonald Homesite. Audience questions will guide the rest of the conversation.

Biography

Jim Morgan is a former professional writer with a master’s degree from the oldest journalism school in the world, the University of Missouri–Columbia. After a brief time in newspapers, he did university and business writing for many years before shifting to project management and business coaching. He has taught team leadership or assisted teams at a wide variety of organizations, including Los Alamos National Laboratory, Microsoft, and Red Hat. He has also written and presented extensively about management techniques based on scientific research, and runs a consulting practice called Full Scale agile™. During the COVID lockdowns, Jim turned what was a hobby project into a business startup, assisted by three consultants, to create AmRevNC. He lives in Durham with a pet ferret, sails, and has black belts in two martial arts.
