Sandhills Compatriots,
On Saturday(4-27-23), Compatriots of the Sandhills Color Guard traveled to the City Cemetery in Raleigh to participate in the SAR Patriot Grave Marking for LTC Joel Lane (P-232900) “The Founding Father of the City of Raleigh. in 1792, Joel Lane sold 1,000 acres to the State of North Carolina for the purpose of building a State Capital. LTC Lane was commissioned in the Wake County Militia in 1772.
Following the Grave Marking Ceremony, a SAR lunch was arranged by the Raleigh Chapter, with Lane Family Members at Sam Jones BBQ Restaurant.
